Melbourne Australia was an exciting place for scientists in July 2010. Chemistry for a Sustainable World was the focus of two major conferences that were held together from Sunday the 4th of July 2010 to Thursday 8th of July 2010 at the Melbourne Convention Centre - the Royal Australian Chemical Institute’s National Convention, RACI 2010 and the 12th IUPAC International Congress of Pesticide Chemistry. 

This congress recognises the evolving needs of our world-wide community and our capacity to feed the world’s population in a sustainable manner.  For this reason “Chemistry for a Sustainable World” is a highly relevant theme of this congress.  

The scientific themes investigated the new emerging challenges for chemists through a world-class scientific program and poster display.  Both the Royal Australian Chemical Institute’s National Convention, RACI 2010 and the 12th IUPAC International Congress of Pesticide Chemistry, operated individually however each delegate upon registration for either of these meetings, had the opportunity to attend any of the major themes which were be presented as part of both scientific programs.
